Looking a little more like Pamela Anderson than she should, Lindsay stepped out over the weekend for some more retail therapy, heading back to Robertson Blvd and the waiting paparazzi. And resorting back to old publicity tricks (made famous first by Britney), she gave everyone a little peek at her black panties while getting in and out of the car.
Life is moving back to normal for Lindsay Lohan, as evidenced by her side-boob shopping experience. She was seen shopping yesterday in San Fernando Valley, and even took time to eat some pizza at Pit Fire. She was in the area working at Millennium Dance Studios, training hard for her upcoming movie role. Another thing that hasn’t changed? Lindsay’s nasty smoking habit.

The big furore over Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears declaring war on panties is still being talked about! Okay, so we all know that the young celebrities used to be snapped left, right and center without a smidgen of underwear on. That’s old news. But it was such a big fashion don’t by the end of 2006, that some celebrities are still coming forward to claim that they are pro-underwear. Like Jessica Simpson, star of the Dukes of Hazzard. Jessica claims that she will never get caught going commando like Lindsay and the rest because she always covers up her private parts. According to a report on the site contactmusic.com, the actress/singer is quite frankly astonished that so many young celebrities have been snapped out of their drawers and says she’d be horrified to find pictures of her genitals all over magazines and the internet. As would we all! “I don’t understand what’s going on with that. I’m the kind of girl who always puts my hand between my legs when I’m getting out of a car if I’m wearing a short skirt,” Jessica says. “I always wear underwear. It’s a personal rule.” You see? And there for a while everyone thought Jessica Simpson was just another dumb blond.
Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Britney Spears are to thank for the term ‘crotchgate’, due to the big chaos they caused when they were photographed without underwear. Since then, many people have had nasty things to say about this horrible Hollywood trend.
Kim Izzo, who has co-written books like The Fabulous Girl’s Guide to Decorum even slotted this trend on the top of her ‘don’t’ list, according to the Edmonton Sun. “Seriously, Paris, Lindsay and Britney would do well to run their charge cards up on some thongs and briefs and wear them,” she says. “No one wants to see that!”
The ‘crotchgate’ phenomenon also had experts analyzing and criticizing it (I kid you not). For instance, Rebecca Sullivan, an associate professor of communication and culture at the University of Calgary had this to say: “The most desperate celebrities among us have just taken things to a new low by flashing full frontal nudity and trying to pass it off as a wardrobe malfunction.”
Let’s hope we never have to see those ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ again!
