Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan’s parents have spoken of their “sadness” after the star was ordered to serve one day in jail for drunk-driving.

The star will also perform 10 days of community service after she plead guilty to two of the seven misdemeanor charges against her.

Lohan had been charged with driving under the influence and being under the influence of cocaine in relation to two drunk-driving arrests in Beverly Hills, Calif., and nearby Santa Monica in May and July of this year.

Lohan’s mother Dina has branded the sentence “sad,” adding, “Something bad is going to happen, I’m afraid.”

Her ex-husband Michael — who has served time in jail himself — says his daughter was “a victim of her own celebrity.”

He says, “She is a little girl who has been used by everybody around her because of her celebrity and that’s what’s landed her where she is. Now, she needs a helping hand, not a sentence.

“I’m against it. Jail would probably harm Lindsay more than help her.”

Lohan must now serve a 24-hour jail term, after the judge cut a mandatory four-day jail sentence in half and ordered her to carry out 10 days of community service.

A further day was taken off the sentence because of time Lohan has already served during her arrests.

Lohan reached a plea deal on Thursday and will spend one day behind bars, plus 10 days of community service and must complete a drug treatment program, Access Hollywood has learned.

The embattled actress was sentenced to 96 hours in jail, but was ordered to serve only 48 hours. However, after being given credit for the time she already spent behind bars at the time of her arrest, ultimately, Lohan will spend one day in jail.

As part of the plea deal, Lohan reportedly pleaded no contest to two charges of DUI, and two charges of being under the influence of a controlled substance (on two separate occasions) and reckless driving.

Lohan was charged earlier in the day with seven misdemeanors stemming from two drunken-driving arrests in the last four months. More serious felony drug charges were not filed, prosecutors said, because tests showed there wasn’t enough cocaine on her to warrant them.

A rep for Lindsay released the following statement to Access Hollywood on behalf of Lohan:

“It is clear to me that my life has become completely unmanageable because I am addicted to alcohol and drugs. Recently, I relapsed and did things for which I am ashamed. I broke the law, and today I took responsibility by pleading guilty to the charges in my case.

No matter what I said when I was under the influence on the day I was arrested, I am not blaming anyone else for my conduct other than myself. I thank God I did not injure others. I easily could have. I very much want to be healthy and gain control of my life and career and have asked for medical help in doing so.

I am taking these steps to improve my life. Luckily, I am not alone in my daily struggle and I know that people like me have succeeded. Maybe with time it will become easier. I hope so.”

The charges are connected with Lohan’s two recent arrests for drunken driving, first in May when she crashed her car on Beverly Hills, and then in July when she was involved in a late-night car chase in Santa Monica.

TMZ, citing unidentified law enforcement sources, said the 21-year-old actress would likely face misdemeanour drunk-driving charges for both incidents. If found guilty of both, she would serve a minimum of four days in jail, TMZ.com said.

Legal experts have said Lohan could face up to three years behind bars if confronted with the full weight of the law.

Asked about the TMZ.com report, district attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said the office has not yet received the Santa Monica case and the Beverly Hills case remains under review.

“A public discussion of potential charges prior to a case being filed would be inappropriate and potentially unethical,” she said.

Gibbons also denied TMZ.com’s report that charges could be filed on Wednesday.

After the Beverly Hills incident, cocaine was found in Lohan’s car. After the Santa Monica chase, she was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, cocaine possession, bringing a controlled substance into custody and driving on a suspended licence.

Lohan, who has done two rehab stints this year, has seen her promising film career plummet in recent years. Last month, she starred as stripper abducted by a sadistic killer in the box office bomb I Know Who Killed Me.

The Mean Girls star has reportedly told executives at Universal Music she is ready to start work on a third studio album after her recent troubles left her short of film offers.

A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: “It would be easy for her to release another album. A record by Lindsay Lohan costs almost nothing to make. She doesn’t need a big band. You just give her some songs and session musicians. And, God knows, she already has name recognition.”

Lindsay’s first two albums Speak and A Little More Personal were guided by Casablanca label head Tommy Mottola, and it is thought he has been trying to persuade Lindsay to get back into the recording studio.

The source said: “Tommy Mottola knows how to handle divas, after all he was once married to Mariah Carey.”

Lindsay was arrested last month for driving under the influence, possession of cocaine, transporting a narcotic into a custody facility and driving on a suspended licence.

She has since reportedly struggled to find anyone who will insure her for a Hollywood movie.

But the music industry may not be set to welcome the 21-year-old with open arms either.

A source said: “As much as she wants to make another album the feeling is she needs to get herself cleaned up. Then we can talk about it.”

Donald Trump is looking to place Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton in his upcoming celebrity version of “The Apprentice.� Ratings of the show were unexpectedly low so NBC cancelled Trump’s reality TV show back in May, but later officially announced on July 16th, that they would renew the show for mid-season as a special Celebrity Edition. Besides, there was still one more year left on the contract.

The Brit-pack would be a great line-up for the sagging show. The New York real estate mogul told the TV tabloid show “Extra� that “Everybody wants to be on ‘The Apprentice,’. We are choosing people right now. It’s hard; we’re telling a lot of people they can’t be on the show.�

The special addition of “The Apprentice� is expected to or has already signed Carmen Electra, Joan Rivers and the original “Apprentice� bad girl Omarosa. The more-the-merrier according to Trump, and he knows a ratings bonanza could occur with the “bimbo trio,� as the New York Post calls Britney, Lindsay and Paris.

“Right now, they’re in various stages of stress,â€? The Donald explained to “Extra.â€? “I’ve always known Britney, I know Lindsay, I know Paris, there are talks going on. We’ll see what happens.â€?

It is very unlikely that Rosie O’Donnell will appear on the new show, but Trump did have something to say about the new “Viewâ€? co-host, Whoopi Goldberg. “I think Whoopi will be wonderful,â€? he said. “I’m not sure that the show is going to change that much, but I think Whoopi is going to do a great job.”

“The Apprentice� originally aired in 2004 and was developed by the same person that brought us “Survivor�, Mark Burnett. The show pits 15-18 businessmen and women in a competition for a one-year job with Trump’s organization which includes a $250,000 salary.

Each episode of “The Apprenticeâ€? includes a decision concerning who should go. During the first episode Trump had to let someone go, but admits he never likes to do it. During that first show he spontaneously said “You’re Fired!â€? The phrase stuck for every episode until in the last show of the season he usually tells the winner “You’re Hired!”

Actress Lindsay Lohan’s signature is “overly complicated� and nearly impossible to read, says a forensic handwriting expert. Sheila Lowe, the author of ‘The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Handwriting Analysis’, says that understanding Lohan’s mind through a reading of her signature is very difficult.

“Lindsay Lohan’s signature is overly complicated and convoluted. Not knowing what it says, it would be impossible to read,â€? Us magazine quoted her as saying.

She, however, said that the actress encircled both her names, which indicated that her heart might be broken, and that she needed to protect her ego.

“There’s a heart shape with a slash through it in the left circle, which suggests that her heart may be broken, and that could be why both names are encircled and tied up in a bow–she feels hurt and has a profound need to protect her ego,â€? she added.

Actress Lindsay Lohan’s estranged parents have reached an amicable agreement in their long-running divorce and custody dispute.

Terms of the settlement between Michael and Dina Lohan have not been disclosed but will become official in 60 days.

Mrs Lohan currently has custody of the couple’s two youngest children.

Adult children Lindsay, 21, and brother Michael, 19, were not involved in the case, which had been running for more than two years.

Supreme Court Justice Robert A Ross praised Michael and Dina Lohan as proceedings came to an end in Mineola, New York.

“You have both demonstrated to me extraordinarily good judgement in resolving this matter as you did,” he said, reported AP news agency.

Mr Lohan said he was looking forward to seeing the children again but he would not go into details of how or when he might do so.

“I wish Dina the best and I hope we can both move forward and put our best foot forward for the kids’ sake and just be good parents,” he said outside the courthouse

Mrs Lohan said: “Now the healing process can begin for my children and myself.”

The Lohans had been close to settling proceedings in 2005 but the deal collapsed when Mr Lohan was imprisoned for drunken driving, brawling and other charges.

Mr Lohan entered a rehabilitation centre on his release from prison.

Lindsay Lohan has herself spent time in rehab this year after twice being arrested whilst driving.

On 24 July, Ms Lohan was arrested in Santa Monica and charged with driving under the influence, cocaine possession, bringing a controlled substance into custody and driving on a suspended licence.

She also faces a drink-driving charge in Beverly Hills, stemming for an accident in May.

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan feels like an “asshole” because her exploits grab all the headlines while issues like global warming are sidelined. The Mean Girls star admits she’s embarrassed by the importance afforded her celebrity. Speaking to American magazine Elle before her recent arrest for drink-driving and subsequent stay in rehab, Lohan said, “I feel like the asshole, the idiot, because I feel like I’m distracting from the other things that are important, like global warming and that kind of stuff. “I genuinely mean that. And I don’t know what to do.”

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan’s third rehab stint is costing her a whopping $29,000 a month in fee.

The Mean Girls star has checked into the Cirque Lodge clinic in Utah, which calls itself America’s most ‘exclusive’ drug rehab centre, for an intensive one-month rehabilitation programme following her second DUI arrest in Santa Monica on July 24.

However, a family source said that like the previous two facilities, the current rehab centre is also more like a resort than a clinic.

“Of course, I am pleased she is seeking help,” a website quoted Lohan’s relative as saying. “But I don’t think this is any more what Lindsay needs than the last two places she chose. They were more like resorts than rehabs and I am afraid from what I have read about Cirque Lodge it is really more of the same. Residents are offered sports like hiking and riding. I would prefer Lindsay to be in constant therapy, rather than doing chores that are not relevant to her addiction problems,” the relative added.

At first, rehab inmates are given a haircut, manicure and pedicure. The facility has fireplaces, jacuzzi tubs in all rooms, sauna and a gym. They can also enjoy movies being screened on big televisions in a huge media room. The facility’s founder, Richard Losee, said that the rehab provides enough chances for all residents to turn sober.

Lindsay Lohan’s former bodyguard has claimed the starlet was the victim of abuse from her father.

Tony Almeida claims Lohan’s father Michael once slammed the car brakes on and ripped her out of the car when he became annoyed with his daughter’s whingeing.

“He pushed her up on the hood, screamed at her and called her a slut,” Tony Almeida told US magazine In Touch.

“I got in the middle of it and pulled him off.”

In response to the claims, Mr Lohan told In Touch magazine: “If I did do it, if that’s the worst anyone can say about me, then it’s not too bad.”

Almeida claims it’s Lohan’s parents who are to blame for her behaviour.

“Lindsay was a very sweet and talented kid, but she didn’t stand a chance against her parents and the Hollywood system,” he said.

Meanwhile, Lohan has been served with a lawsuit by the passenger in the car she allegedly chased down.

Tracie Rice is suing Lohan for negligence, assault and medical expenses.

Rice alleges she and the driver of the car were so terrified they crashed through a barricade to try and escape the starlet’s pursuit.

She says they then drove to a police station and leapt out of the car, with Lohan right behind them as they ran to the officers.

“Police officers approached all of them with guns drawn,” the suit said.

Lohan was subsequently found to be drunk and in possession of cocaine, leading to her latest stint in rehab.

She may not have been driving, but Tracie Rice still didn’t appreciate having Lindsay Lohan all up in her grill.

Rice, who says she was a passenger in the car Lohan is accused of chasing moments before being arrested last month on suspicion of driving under the influence and cocaine possession, has sued the starlet for assault, negligence and intentional affliction of emotional distress.

According to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Rice was riding with Michelle Beck, the mother of Lohan’s ex-assistant, on the early morning of July 24, when a large SUV pulled up “grill to grill” with Beck’s car and “made a corresponding aggressive move in an effort to block their escape” every time Beck tried to drive away.

Actress Lindsay Lohan’s daily rehab routine has been leaked, following reports that the star is behaving like a model patient.

Lohan returned to the Cirque Lodge rehab centre in Utah after she was charged with driving under a suspended licence, following her arrest for driving under the influence on July 24.

According to More, the Herbie: Fully Loaded actress is woken up at six every morning for a river hike, followed by a brief meditation.

After eight she is allotted some free time and cleaning duties, where the star must clean her room and her own toilet. Following that, she will have a speaker meeting and patients must discuss what they are going to do for the rest of the day.

In the afternoon the patients can choose to participate in activities such as horseback riding or gardening, which Lohan reportedly has already done. Massages, spa treatments and pedicures are apparently available at this time.

In the evening Lohan will have to join in some assignment or recovery work, and then must attend a 12-step meeting. The rehab centre daily structure means that the star must be in bed with lights out at 11.

Lindsay Lohan’s estranged parents could settle their long-simmering divorce as soon as next week, a judge said yesterday.

“My understanding is that we are extremely close to crafting an agreement?” state Supreme Court Justice Robert A. Ross asked attorneys for Michael and Dina Lohan.

John DiMascio Jr., who represents Michael Lohan, said after a conference involving the couple and their lawyers that “minor points” still preclude a settlement, but he expressed confidence they could be resolved before an Aug. 17 court date.

Neither DiMascio nor Dina Lohan’s attorney, Warren Quaid, would discuss any details of the proposed accord.

The Lohans were close to an agreement on a divorce settlement in 2005, but that deal collapsed while Michael was in prison for drunken driving, brawling with his brother-in-law and other charges. He was released in March and entered a Christian-based drug and rehabilitation center.

TMZ has confirmed Lohan is at Cirque in Orem, Utah, a treatment center run by Mormons. People inside the facility say Lindsay has been a “model patient,” and gets absolutely no special treatment.

A television show is broadcasting a piece tonight with a woman in silhouette — who claims she was at the facility with Lindsay, and that Lohan was difficult with the staff, refused to attend meetings and got lots of special attention — including a private room. TMZ knows differently.

Sources inside the facility say that Lindsay attends12-step every day as well as other meetings, talks with psychiatrists and psychologists, and receives “other medical treatment.” She is not in a private room; she has two roommates. She spends time during the day and night washing dishes, cleaning toilets and doing laundry.

Doctors at the facility say she has been cooperative from the get-go. As for the woman making the allegations, there are two facilities at Cirque — The Lodge and The Studio. We’re told Lindsay and the woman were at different facilities and there was only a short overlap. We’re told the woman dropped out of the program days after Lindsay arrived, “against medical advice.” Several doctors described the woman as “a problem.” We’re told the only way the woman could have even seen Lindsay was at group meetings — she was never in a position to even see Lindsay’s accommodations.

And we have more: We’re told the day of her arrest, Lohan went to an intense, medical detox facility in L.A. for eight days. She then went directly to Cirque.

One Cirque insider says Lohan says the program is “life-saving.”

Another day, another rumor! Apparently sometime between getting drunk, getting DUI’s, and getting caught with coke, Lindsay Lohan managed to get preggers.

A pal told OK! magazine: “It wouldn’t be the first time she had a pregnancy scare.�

As usual Lohan’s rep refused to comment on the report.

In the past Lohan has been very open about her sexuality and how much she enjoys casual sex. She once said, “‘Sex And The City’ changed everything for me because those girls would just sleep with so many people. And that’s me.”

I wouldn’t doubt it if she was pregnant, but if she actually got knocked up I feel like she would have only done it to compete with Nicole Richie. Lohan hates it when someone else steals her thunder. It’s sad that these young Hollywood stars can only get press for scandals instead of actual work or talent.
