Peace, dad, but don’t come near me.

It’s official: Lindsay Lohan has made it clear what she wants from her dad. Recently, the Herbie actress told security guards to keep her father out of the club where she was DJ-ing for the night and all she wanted to do was avoid her father. We wondered if perhaps a reunion would be on the cards, but now Lindsay has finally spoken to her dad Michael (who was recently released from prison). And unfortunately for him, she made it clear that she does not want him to be a part of her life. “Lindsay told him, ‘You still haven’t changed. Don’t go near my mother again,’â€? a source told the New York Post. “Then Lindsay called her mother Dina and told her to be careful and to take care of her brother and sister.â€? But Michael blames Lindsay’s uncle Paul for the strained relationship between himself and his daughter. “Paul set me up, spread lies and rumors about me, and convinced Lindsay to ‘distance’ herself from me. Paul even pressed false charges against me to have me arrested. He called me a con man, but he’s a con man,” Michael said. Hmm, spoken like a true con man.
Well, looks like the Lohans aren’t going to become the next Brady Bunch any time soon.

So the girl is back to partying, but that’s not the only thing about Lindsay Lohan that has returned - her diva antics also made a comeback recently when she was seen shouting obscenities at fans. Lindsay was hosting a DJ set at Manhattan’s Plumm nightclub a few nights ago during which a smitten crowd refused to stop taking photographs of her. According to starpulse.com., Lindsay turned off the music off in the DJ booth and screamed at the fans who were clicking away with their cameras. “If I see one more f—ing flashbulb go off, I’m going to stop the music and get out of here,â€? she said. Complete silence fell onto the crowd and fans took the star’s threat seriously, putting their cameras away so that Lindsay could continue. Aside from star-struck fans, Lindsay was having a stressful night. She was so anti the idea of her father, Michael Lohan, pitching up at the party that she asked the club to hire extra security guards to keep him out! She showed a picture of her estranged father to the bouncers at the door and instructed them to keep him out should he show his face. So despite Michael’s interest in working on a relationship with his daughter, and her supposed “delight” at the idea, it seems Lindsay is keeping him – and fans – at arm’s length. Yep, the old Lindsay’s back alright.

Michael Lohan, newly released from prison, has had his first interview and in it he spoke quite candidly about his family. He said that Lindsay’s mother, Dina, needs him but he’s going to be patient while she works on accepting him. I guess he’s accustomed to waiting patiently, after being in the big house for two years (note: there has been a bit of confusion about what Michael was locked up for – it was attempted assault in the second degree and a DUI offence.) “I’m going to wait, and when she sees I’m walking the walk, hopefully she’ll open the door,� Michael said, referring to Dina. And when it comes to Lindsay, Michael said, “My relationship with Lindsay – that’s personal. I just want to be there for her. She needs both parents, not just one.� Michael told Splash News, “I love her and I’m here for her.�
Lindsay, however, hasn’t commented about her dad’s moving words, which strikes me as a tad strange after how delighted she was when he wrote her a letter from jail saying that he wanted to work on their relationship. But guess we’ll have to wait and see if a dad-daughter relationship is on the cards.

Today Lindsay’s dad, Michael Lohan, will be leaving jail. According to the Gossip Girls, Michael has been in jail for the past two years after he was involved in an accident and found to be under the influence of alcohol. He was sentenced to a correctional center near Buffalo, New York.

A changed man?
But now, two years down the line, it seems Michael is a changed man. Well, that’s according to Brett Hudson, one of the people who has remained in contact with Michael during his jail stint. “I’ve spoken to him often and I know it. The last time around, Michael would never admit he’d done anything wrong. Now, he not only admits his past mistakes, but he wants to right the wrongs he’s done,� Brett says. “And most of all, he wants to get his family back on track.�

Turning bad into good
Michael has worked towards becoming a minister while serving jail time and he’s going to continue his work in the ministry now that he’s a free man. “He’s actually going straight into the ministry when he gets out - the Teen Challenge ministry to help runaways and kids on drugs - trying to straighten out their lives,� Brett said.

The next chapter
It seems that Michael and Lindsay have a lot in common – they’re both starting new phases of their lives and are hoping for a new beginning. As soon as Michael gets out, his mom is throwing him a ‘welcome home’ party. Based on Lindsay’s happiness to reunite with her dad and work on their relationship, I am sure she’ll be there to welcome her dad back home and into her life.

Lindsay’s stay in rehab seems to be helping her get on track with her life – and not just when it comes to sobriety. She is currently also fixing her relationship with her father, Michael Lohan, who is serving jail time for assault. Lindsay and her dad have not been in contact for years and she completely cut him out of her life. But then recently he sent her a letter and she was delighted to hear from her estranged father. The letter read, “I am so proud of you in that you are taking back control of your life and putting it back on track like God wants. Now it’s time to ‘clean house’ in every sense of the word, and start anew. My undying love, daddy.”
It smelled like a publicity stunt on Michael’s part because he ‘ran’ to the press with letter in hand (obviously it wasn’t a literal run because he’s in the big house). But that negative thought did not cross Lindsay’s mind. She was all-too happy to respond to her father. “It was such a welcome surprise. Lindsay was certainly touched and a little choked up,â€? a source said.
But Lindsay’s no fool – the source adds that she’s cautious to allow her dad back into her life after all this time, despite being keen to nurture a relationship with him. “She has been in touch and even though she is proceeding with caution she’s thrilled to have made contact with her dad,� the source said.
Nice, positive news for the Lohans, then.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes it takes such extreme circumstances for estranged relatives to make contact with each other? Bet that’s what Lindsay Lohan is feeling now that her dad has tried to bridge the gap between them. We all know that Lindsay and her dad are not on good terms, and he is currently serving time in the big house. But according to a report by Pr-inside.com., Michael Lohan has tried to reach out to his daughter in a hand-written, two page letter that he sent to weekly magazine, In Touch. Michael is hoping to reunite and make amends with his daughter once her time in rehab is over. In the letter to the twenty-year-old, Michael writes, “I’m so proud of you in that you are taking back control of your life and putting it back on track, like God wants.” The report made no mention of what Lindsay thought or how she reacted. But what I find really amusing is that he sent the letter to a publication, not to the rehab facility where his daughter is receiving treatment. If he was genuinely keen on bridging the gap with his daughter, surely he would have sent it to her directly and not turned it into something for the media to gawp at. Hmm, smells like a publicity stunt to me, Michael.
